The annual Turkey Trot and AGM is a much-anticipated event at our club, bringing members together for friendly competition, festive fun, and important club business. No-one let the weather dampen their spirit for the last competition of 2025 as the 60 players were undeterred, they simply swapped the outdoors for the cosy indoors and a fun cryptic quiz. With the fire crackling and the Christmas tunes playing everyone settled in, heads down with their teams to work out the picture clues and answer the questions from our very own super quiz master Iain.
In 1st place with a fabulous 41 points were ‘???’ Elaine and Tas Violaris, Jan Neil and Ian Hicks. In 2nd place were ‘The Sunday Boys’, Dale Wilkins, Neil Hodgson, Steven Bentley and Ged Butcher with 40 points.
The best dressed man went to Shaun Malins for his fun Elf costume and a team prize went to ‘The Partidges on a Par 3’ Iain Mayer, Carlos Navarro, Hayley Brown and Tania Rayward.
There followed a delicious Christmas lunch served by Niki, Emma and the team, a big thank you to you all.
After the excitement of the quiz and a hearty Christmas lunch, members gathered for the AGM, where key updates and recognitions were shared. The event started with a final address from Martyn Sands as he hands over the Presidency to Wendy Waite. Her first job in the role was to make the presentations of the trophies to the Knockout winners for 2025. Congratulations to them all.
