A lovely sunny afternoon was on display for the enthusiastic golfing souls who set out for the fun Texas Scramble prior to the Members Summer Party. In total there were 11 teams of 4 (except 2 teams of 3) for a total of 42 golfers.
The course was very welcoming and some impressive scores were recorded. When the results were in, it showed that there was a spread of only 6 (nett) between the winning team and the back marker. The highest score was 32 (nett), while the winning team finished on 26 (nett). In between these two scores, there were 5 teams on 29 (nett) and 3 teams on 27 (nett). So, all in all it was a closely-fought competition.
The 2nd hole was the scene for the longest drive challenge. For the Ladies, Judith Gallagher was the winner; and for the Men Shaun Malins took the prize.
Our second challenge was nearest the pin on the 8th. For the Ladies, Judith Gallagher again reigned victorious, while husband Brian emerged as the winner for the Men.
Overall, the results were as follows. In second place (after countback) on 27 (nett) were the team comprising Elaine Violaris, Tas Violaris, Judith Gallagher and Brian Gallagher.
The WINNERS of the Pre-party Texas Scramble on 26 (nett) were Lynne Adams, Martin Parmenter, Mike Robertson and David Walker. Congratulations to them.
Our President Wendy presented the prizes, after which all present were left to enjoy their drinks and pizza.
