Thank You – Pimms & Pink Day for Breast Cancer
On behalf of myself as Lady Captain, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Pimms & Pink Day in aid of Breast Cancer such a wonderful success.
I am delighted to tell you that we raised a fantastic £745!
Thank you to everyone who donated cakes, books, golf paraphernalia, raffle prizes and, of course, to those who kindly made donations even though they were unable to attend.
A very special thank you to Diana and Sarah, who couldn’t join us for the golf but still came along to help while we were all out playing. Your support was very much appreciated.
Thank you also to everyone who bought raffle tickets and helped with the setting up and clearing away. Special thanks go to Janet for inputting all the scorecards, Hsien for assisting, and Jane and Richard for taking the playing cards out and placing them on the greens.
A big thank you to Nicki, Emma and the team for the delicious pizzas, which went down a treat, and for keeping us supplied with such refreshing Pimms throughout the day.
It really was a fantastic team effort, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day.
Congratulations to our prize winners:
🥇 1st Place: Judith, Karen Darby & Heather – 54 points
🥈 2nd Place: Hsien, Wendy & Ann H – 50 points
🥉 3rd Place: Carol, Tania & Anne B – 50 points (Second and third places were decided on countback.)
Special Competition Winners:
- Nearest the Line (Hole 6): Wendy
- Nearest the Pin (Hole 8): Me! 😄
- Longest Putt: Karen Darby
Congratulations also to Judith & Hayley and Sharon & Jane, who finished level in the Round the World putting/chipping competition. We had so much fun with the tie-break questions that I honestly can’t remember which competition they finally won! 🤣 Whatever the outcome, all four deserve a special mention—they played brilliantly. The rest of us clearly need a little more practice!
We had several bottles of wine left over, so I would like to give one each to Sarah and Diana as a small thank you for all their help. The remaining bottles will be saved for our next charity event.
Finally, I’m so pleased Ali eventually found her raffle tickets—and then went on to win the enormous bottle of rosé! It was obviously meant to be! 🍷🎉
Thank you all once again for your generosity, enthusiasm and support. Days like these remind me what a wonderful club family we have. I am so proud of what we achieved together, and raising £745 for Breast Cancer is something we can all be proud of.
With my sincere thanks,
Your Lady Captain
