Growing up, Josh loved playing outdoors in the countryside and had a love for all things farming and tractors, which kind of makes a lot of sense now…
Josh studied history and politics a-levels straight from school but from this, he knew he was never destined for an office job. So he took a gap year & kept himself busy with gardening and landscaping jobs, with the intension of doing a ski season. But that all changed however that all changed when was offered work at the golf course!
After getting a taste for greenkeeping, alongside his job, Josh started his Green keeping apprenticeship at Plumpton College. This type of work came naturally to Josh where he went on to completed level 2 and 3 setting his sights firmly on a role as a Head Greenkeeper.
Cuckfield is now fortunate to boast some of the best greens in Sussex and that’s all down to the clever manicuring and tentative care of the greens and surrounding areas Josh has put in place. He leads his team with high standards putting his expertise into place at all times. It’s great to hear from so many of our members and regular visitors that our greens have never looked so good (and why it’s fully booked so regularly!)
He’s worked tirelessly for Cuckfield Golf Centre for 10 years now. Can you believe he’s only 28 years old? We do hope we can keep hold of him for many more years.
When asked why he loves his job so much Josh says it’s because ‘every day is different, and always very rewarding’. Josh starts his working day at 6:30am so is fortunate enough to be able to watch some of the most beautiful sunrises, whilst working obviously… I think you’ll agree, Josh has one of the best offices in the area.
Josh’s other half says that” the golf course is like his baby, he is always thinking and talking about it, I guess the greens are living after all”. Outside of work, he is often found enjoying outdoors sports, gardening, and with a love of food exploring new restaurants, occasionally you will find him on the golf course with a golf club…
