Ladies June 2025

Ladies – June 2025 Highlights

June has been a vibrant and eventful month for our Ladies, filled with competitive spirit, camaraderie, and some fantastic golf.

We kicked off the month in style with The Ladies Invitational on June 4th. The event saw an impressive turnout, with 24 pairs representing 19 different clubs—a testament to the growing strength and community of ladies’ golf. A heartfelt thank you goes to Clare Parkinson for her superb organisation and to Niki, Emma, and the entire 180 Degrees team for their outstanding hospitality on the day.

Our ladies have been busy representing the club in Sussex Ladies Competitions, with teams in Divisions 2, 3, and the Martlets. Over 20 ladies have taken part across the season so far. We’re delighted to report that both Division 3 and the Martlets have qualified for the quarter-finals.

  • Division 3 will face West Sussex on 7th July at East Brighton.
  • The Martlets take on Royal Ashdown on 10th July at Ham Manor.

While Division 2 didn’t progress this time, they played valiantly against some tough opponents—Royal Eastbourne, Royal Ashdown, and Cowdray—and should be proud of their efforts.

In other Sussex Competitions, 17 ladies represented the club:

  • Morrice Foursomes – A tough first-round match at Sweetwoods ended in a loss.
  • Kathleen Rider – A special mention to Hsien and Jean, who finished 4th out of 88 pairs—a fantastic result.
  • Trio Cup – We beat Chichester away in round one, then narrowly lost to Piltdown in the second round.
  • Kyocera – In two tightly contested matches, we were just edged out by Slinfold at home and Brighton & Hove away in challenging wet and windy conditions.
  • Kyocera Mixed – Another nail-biter, with the match going to the 18th hole at Worthing, where we were narrowly beaten.

June also hosted the President’s Cup and Vice President’s Salver, which saw strong participation and some fantastic scoring. We’re thrilled that the ladies swept the podium, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places all going to our section. Congratulations to Clare Parkinson on her well-deserved win.

Our weekday roll-ups continue to be a hit—providing a perfect chance to enjoy relaxed mixed golf in the early evenings, followed by great company, a drink, and some delicious club pizza.

The Fourth Wednesday Fun Day, open to non-members, continues to grow in popularity. This month, we tried a new and entertaining format—The Portuguese One Club, introduced by one of our new members. It brought plenty of laughs and creativity to the course. After golf, we welcomed Clare and Pascale from NuSkin, who introduced us to their products and even tested our antioxidant levels—there’s now an extra push to eat those greens!

Lastly, a big congratulations to Sharon and our Ladies Captain for winning the Foursomes Prize over 9 holes at the annual Singing Hills Captains & Vice Captains 27-Hole tournament —a great result!

June wrapped up on a high note with our first Mixed Friendly match on 29th June, where we were victorious against Dorking. A huge thank you to Vice Captain Karen Lewis for organising this.
