After the previous week’s 30°C heat, Ladies Invitation Day saw challenging conditions, with 20 mph winds and heavy rain. Nevertheless, 48 players turned out in full wet weather gear.
Visitors were welcomed from local clubs Haywards Heath, Cottesmore, Lindfield and Singing Hills and further afield the Dyke, Brighton & Hove, Worthing, Cowdray, Pyecombe, Piltdown, Horam Park, The Lottbridge, Eastbourne Downs, Sedlescombe, Ealing, Denham, Shortlands.
Despite the weather, spirits remained high. Vice President Iain Mayer welcomed each group to the tee for the 4BBB competition. While some players chose to stop after 9 holes to warm up in the clubhouse, others continued after refreshments at the Halfway House.
