A fantastic turnout of 33 players took part in the 2026 Ladies Club Championship, an 18-hole Medal Strokeplay competition played from the red tees.
Vice President Iain Mayer was starter for the day, seeing off each group of three after a rules briefing and team photo. Following the recent rainfall, the course played very differently from the conditions members have experienced over the past few months, meaning players had to adapt quickly. There was even the added surprise of rain during play, with waterproofs and umbrellas soon put to good use.
There were a few birdies and plenty of pars to keep everyone in contention for prizes. Playing in handicap order ensured a strong competitive element, while everyone enjoyed each other’s company and a good round of golf. It was also lovely to see so many of our newer lady members joining in, and we look forward to seeing many more of you at future events.
Huge congratulations go to our Ladies Club Champion, Carol Popplewell, who scored a gross 84 and nett 73. Congratulations also to our Nett Champion, Elaine Violaris, with a gross 87 and nett 72.
