  • Glow on the Greens: Inside This Year’s Second Night Golf Event

The end of October brought very different weather compared to our first Night Golf earlier in the month. Despite the damp start, 40 enthusiastic players turned up in full wet-weather gear for this ever-popular event. Fortunately, the clouds soon dispersed, and the rest of the evening stayed dry.

Following a briefing in the Clubhouse, players set off for a shotgun start. Tees and fairways were illuminated to guide everyone around the course, creating a truly unique and atmospheric setting.

The format for the evening was Texas Scramble, with each player required to use at least two drives. After every shot, the team selected the best-placed ball, and all players took their next shot from that spot — continuing until the ball was holed.

The glowing fairways created a magical scene, filled with laughter as teams made their way around the course. After an exciting round under the lights, everyone gathered in the Clubhouse for refreshments, conversation, and the eagerly anticipated awards ceremony.

All fell quiet as Angie Smith took the floor to announce the winners:

Nearest the Pin (Hole 8): Liam Mulvee

3rd Place: Anthony Ferris, Mike Foden, Bruce Somerville

2nd Place: Alex Barlow, Theo Barlow, Andy Frith, Guy Harding

1st Place: Stephen Muggeridge, Hadley Smith, Lee Warren, Symon Warren

(All three top teams finished on a nett 26, with final positions decided on countback.)

A huge thank you to Josh and his team for lighting up the course, Niki, Emma and the team for the delicious food and great prizes, and Angie and Clare for the scoring and admin behind the scenes.
