A fine morning greeted the 48 players for the 1st Silverware qualifying trophy competition of 2026. It was fabulous to welcome so many of our newer members and we look forward to seeing them enter future competitions. A special thank you to Jimi Smyth who stepped in with just 12 hours notice.
The Cuckoo Challenge is a 4BBB mixed competition played from the yellow/red tees. For some pairings the first time they met each other was on the tee! It certainly didn’t affect the scores, with great course conditions and warm, calm weather there were some great scoring opportunities.
Individual challenges added extra excitement and were won as follows;
Longest Drive – Bud Mercer and Alison Clinch
NTP on 8 – Darren Stevens
NTP on 17 – Diana Finnerty
It was tight at the top of the leaderboard with 2nd place awarded on countback and only 1 shot between them and 1st place.
1st place – Neil Hodgson and Diana Finnerty – 44 points
2nd place – Darren Stevens and Jan Neill – 43 points
3rd place – Bob and Kate Miles – 43 points
The clubhouse was buzzing as players enjoyed a drink and some a delicious lunch as they waited for the results to be announced. Medals and gift vouchers were presented by Club President Wendy Waite.
Thanks to Niki and her team for looking after us so well and to Josh and the greenkeeping team for a course in great condition.
