Cuckfield Golf Club was buzzing with energy and community spirit for this year’s Captains’ Charity Golf Day, where members and guests came together to raise money for Kangaroos, a Mid Sussex charity that provides clubs and activities for children and adults with learning disabilities and Sussex Homeless Support, who do incredible work helping people facing homelessness across the county.
The day was filled with great golf, good humour, and generous giving. Teams took to the course for a fun Cross Country competition, followed by a lively afternoon back in the clubhouse with a delicious lunch, prize presentations, raffles and an auction. Thanks to our wonderful Auctioneer, club member, Iain Mayer there was some fierce bidding for the individual lots which had been generously donated by local companies and golf clubs.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated prizes, or volunteered their time — and to all who supported the event in any way. Along with the Kangaroo (Ella Thatcher Memorial) Cup held in September, we raised an amazing £12,000, every penny of which will go directly to these fantastic organisations.
The charities were overwhelmed by the amounts raised and explained how the money will make such a difference to the lives of the children and adults they work with.
