Captains Charity Day

On Saturday 28th October, it was our Captains Charity Day. The day finally arrived after months of planning and sourcing great auction lots to raise money for our 2 chosen charities, Chestnut Tree House and Sussex Homeless.

Fundraising started as soon as the doors opened with a silent auction, homemade cake stall, a monumental raffle, wildflower seeds and the usual mulligans, chipping and putting sale. Our team of willing volunteers did a great job manning the stalls and collecting lots of cash.

Donning wet weather gear 48 players headed out for the Cross Country Golf competition, always immense fun trying to work out distances from tee to a totally different green! Blue sky and sunshine and torrential rain was the order of the day.

After a delicious hot lunch, Iain Mayer our wonderful auctioneer got the bidding underway. A fantastic selection of 4 ball vouchers throughout Sussex, Surrey and Kent, a hamper full of fine Craft Cheeses, Wine Tastings, Spa days, Golf Lessons, Heritage Tasting Menu, Steam Train Ride and Photography Workshops were all hotly pursued to help us raise a grand total of £8,150.

The cheques were presented to Chestnut Tree House and Sussex Homeless and they explained what a difference the money will make to the lives of the children and adults they work in aid of. Well done to everyone involved and a huge thank you from the Captains, Clare, Pat and Phil.
