With Winter taking it’s icy grip at the golf centre, the members and friends of Cuckfield Golf Centre once again took the opportunity to head off to sunnier climes with David on the start of his ever popular Portugal golf tours.
The usual Ryder cup style format of matches played around some of the most stunning courses in the Algarve always manage to create a fun, enjoyable and exciting week for all.
The teams were made up of Cuckfield members past and present and regular users of both the range and clinics.
In the team event David’s team of Reds were comfortable victors over the Whites with a score of 10 1/2 – 4 1/2 to take the overseas trophy.
John Violaris was victorious in the individual Simon Hewitt “El Presidente” trophy with Paul Ashman and Trevor Harley prevailing in the Vilamoura pairs trophy.
John Violaris was also the winner of the Stephen Dollery Memorial trophy for the highest Stableford score of the week.
At the end of weeks Prizegiving, David thanked all of the invaluable helpers who had assisted him for the week with Graham Sherlock and Andy Holden both receiving gifts.And a special thanks for the tireless work and help from the fabulous transport manager Andrew Fairbank, who not only made sure that everyone was where the needed to be on time but was also incredibly helpful and patient when helping people with their passenger locator forms.
Tas Violaris thanked David in a speech on behalf of everyone for what a had once again been an extremely successful, well organised and thoroughly enjoyable trip for the group resulting in the perfect pick-me up after a very trying couple of years with the Pandemic.
